Vino on the Couch

It had slipped my mind how much I enjoy couching with yarn and wine. Tis the season to be crocheting. What better way to settle in with my newest project than with a nice glass (or two) of tasty red wine? I can't think of any other way to go. Actually, I have several projects going this month. Cowls, hand and wrist warmers, blossoming hats for little girls, scarves, and to top it, a new Christmas blanket! Whew! Ethel, my project supervisor, is there every stitch of the way to make sure I don't slack on my couching duties. Photos? Yes, please.

This soft winter hat with flower is modeled by my beautiful niece, Nevaeh. Perfect for fun in the snow!

Honey Honey

Just a little breakfast. Coffee, toast, bananas and honey. Honey is so good for the body and it tastes good. Huh, weird. Imagine little bees traveling from flower to flower collecting pollen, of different flavors, to bring back to the hive to make delicious, sweet, golden honey. Such a treat! Working so very hard, and we swat at them as a thank you. That just doesn't make sense. 60,000 or so bees in a beehive may collectively travel as much as 55,000 miles and visit more than two million flowers to gather enough nectar to make just a pound of honey!

The Moon Rises, Bigger Than My Dreams

Good Morning!
Coffee in front of me. Check. Rising sun in my window. Check. Slippers on my cold toes. Check.
Well, this last Saturday, I found some poems that I wrote in college. Some are pretty good. So, why not share? Keep in mind I was 19 when I wrote these.

Last Night Over Coffee
He walks in,
Casual, like the carpenter.
Turns his head,
With the slightest Mona Lisa.
His pupils attach with mine,
Paused,
The moment will not last.
Her glassy kitten eyes gaze,
Up to her prince.
I keep writing.

In A Dream
there is a day made for you,
and I am your only host.

About You
Oh, to be there, again, with you.
On that plateau in the clouds.
Weightlessness feeds my belly.
Feel you at my side,
Surrender at just one breath.

The Wind
I feel you breathing on my face,
Sleeping, pretending not to notice,
My eyelashes move,
And give me away,
To your comfortable bold embrace.

The Space Between
So small,
These thoughts might someday be adult,
Influences, disagreements,
Isn't that what keeps our attention?
A dream, while tinier than you,
I pray for rain,
For these roots to stretch.

1937
Perfect in others eyes.
Look in the mirror,
Find a plastic doll,
With eyes as your own.
Deeply saddened by life's insincerity,
Now lift your chin,
Ignoring the dead skin beneath.

My Birthday
We never look to what is to come.
Will I ever really grow up?
I feel it taking a bigger role in my life.
Aging, yet more ignorant than the day I was born.

Victorian
Roses, petals, dried and beautiful,
Like grandma in her chair.
Afternoon sun through the window,
Relaxed blissfully,
Across her pre occupied face.

The Dance
Another turn,
She looks to the floor,
Another step,
She does not wish to dance anymore.

He's never seen,
Such beauty so solemn,
He stares at her cheeks,
Flushed with qualm.

It presents a new eternity,
Songs of generations long past,
Bleeds her caged heart,
This has been her death.

Obviously, I was just writing to get a grade. With a bit of practice or effort, these could have been better.

December First

It is officially the first month of my new work year. I have chosen to make December the beginning of my work year for a number of reasons. Business is very slow. I enjoy having time to catch up with office work, get organized, plan my schedule for the new year and so on. December is the month my body stops traveling everyday and lets my mind catch up with my thoughts. I have some new ideas on how I will be approaching this next work year. I have set goals and I have rearranged each week so that I hopefully will offer myself time and attention in each area of my life. 30's. Gets busier and busier. I like it that way. I love to make my schedule. The biggest challenge is where to fit my naps in and some down time with my love, JJ. Busyness is wonderful. Blessing! I have met many people over the past year who don't have a job. I'm so blessed to have mine and that I absolutely love to do my job.
December is also a time to catch up on crafts and dessert making. And this year sounds like a soupy December. I have two more soups on my list to try next. Cookies. There are some jelly cookies that I can't wait to try. I want to do something with chocolate and peppermint. Maybe a cake....no... CUPCAKES!. MMMM.... I have not found where my exercise routine fits into my new year's schedule. I better figure that out with all these yummies baking in my kitchen.
And what is on the craft list? Sewing some Christmas pillow cases for the couch. I would love a new couch for Christmas. I wonder if Santa could fit that down our chimney? If not, he could just ring the bell and we would be more than happy to carry it into the house. I nice brown leather sofa with buttons. Cozy. or something like this... That would be fine too.
or this...

Anyways, on my crafty list... Crochet everything. Hats, cowls, hand warmers, baby items, flowers, etc. Also, I have an apron that Lilly and I started. I need to get back in the apron groove. And Christmas decor, I have a cork wreath on my list, a tree skirt, and other fun cute things. Gorgeous little things.
Well, I had better get cracking on that crochet list of To Do's. Oh, and I just had an idea for a collage of me and JJ items. I'll get to that eventually and post pics. Look for that, mmm, probably closer to spring.

Note: I'm pretty sure I fell in love with some boots today. Santa could bring me those too, please.
